Madrid is preparing to welcome its largest shopping center to date, a €500 million mega development set to open in Valdebebas in 2027. The new complex will feature more than 280 stores, a next-generation Kinépolis cinema, and is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, positioning itself as one of the biggest retail projects in Spain.
The shopping center will be located close to IFEMA, the Isabel Zendal Hospital, and Terminal T4 of Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, within an area planned as one of the city’s main residential and business hubs. The project will occupy approximately 360,000 to 362,000 square meters of built area and will consist of two large buildings connected by a central open-air plaza.
The architectural design, developed by Chapman Taylor, focuses on creating an experience beyond traditional shopping. The complex will feature curved lines, white façades, spacious galleries, terraces, and green areas, encouraging visitors to spend time socializing, dining, and enjoying leisure activities rather than simply shopping.
The retail offer will include between 260 and 280 stores, combining fashion, technology, homeware, restaurants, and services. One of the key attractions already confirmed is a new-generation Kinépolis cinema, designed to become a major leisure landmark in northern Madrid, alongside large retail brands and restaurants with outdoor terraces.
According to published estimates, the project is expected to generate between 5,400 and 6,000 direct jobs, covering retail, hospitality, cinema operations, security, cleaning, and management roles. In addition, around 3,500 indirect jobsare anticipated in areas such as logistics, maintenance, supplies, and external services.
Construction is scheduled to begin during 2026, with the official opening planned for 2027, although an exact date has not yet been announced. The development will also require improvements to road access and public transport in Valdebebas to manage the expected increase in traffic and visitor numbers.
